Ignored PCN now lawyers involved

Hello have read through the tread and whilst very useful, my situation is slightly different so interested to understand what the best corse of action is before I write anything down on paper in terms of appeal. To give you a full overview....i owned a car but on then its engine blew up on the motorway. The AA towed it home (i have written proof of this) and then i got a local garage to take it away as scrap. Annoyingly i didn't update the DVLA until September that my vehicle was off the road as during this period the garage must have left the car on private land becuase on the 1st of September i received a fine from the PEA/PCN Parking solutions regarding a ticket that was issued on the 31st July. Aside from the fact that there was no way I would have been able to have driven a broken car anywhere it was also not in my possession since July 2nd and as a result I was obviously completley unaware that any ticket had been issued until I recived notifcation in the post.

I ignored the invoice and was then sent another invoice on the 21st of October increasing costs. I again ignored the letter.

Now on the 24th of October I was sent a new letter, this time from CSB solicitors on behalf of the Parking and Enforcement Ageny Limited saying that the fee was now Increased after solicitors costs to £202. Their client "may"instruct them to take legal action and in order to avoid further legal action I should make payment immediately.

Now obviously I am loathe to pay but also don't want to have a bill of thousands of pounds hanging over me. What is the best way for me to quash this? Can I still use the template letter? Does it change things that I have ignored them since September?

Any feedback massively appreciated.

Thanks,

Let them take you to court. Judges rarely find for the PPC in such cases.

Also, they may be trying to overcharge you. They are not allowed to add solicitors costs unless a judge says so. This is not even an LBA, they are acting in the capacity of debt collectors.

Complain to the SRA here that they are attempting to obtain monies to which they are not entitled.

The location is England - london to be precise. YEs PEA arent lawyers but they have passed it onto CSB solicitors who are.

Unfortunately not but truth be told I wouldn't want to pass this on as it would incriminate my mechanic - something I dont want to do either

So you recommend that I just sit tight and continue to ignore (apart from complaining to the SRA). I shouldn't write an appeal outlining that the car was not in my possession?

I would ignore all but genuine court papers from now on. Expect lots of DCA letters, threats red ink, even dodgy solicitors threatening you with penury, but imo they would be daft to bring this in front of a judge.
