Doing the whole house up, and have gone back to bare brick and will need to do the kitchen soon. As all the work is costing me mega money, I need things on the cheap.
Where is recommended for good quality kitchens, I'm looking for something with solid wooden doors, no laminated stuff.
I need :
2 x 1000mm corner units
2 x 1000mm base units
1 x 400mm base unit
1 x 800mm base unit
1 x oven unit
1 x dishwasher unit
2 x 1000mm wall units
2 x 500mm wall units
1 x 800mm wall unit
extracter unit
Best I've had is £2.5k from IKEA.
Thanks for any help, much appreciated

your should be able to get all that for less than a grand from wickes or BQ.

Kitchen is not that big but enough, also there is a seperate space with more unit for storage.
I want something that will last time, and solid door seems the best option, as in time can be sanded and stained again0 -
that ok, but i was thinking of saving money.
most laminates will last a good many yrs. and it can be painted too now. ive done mine recently. looks ok too.
from dark brown to an oatmeal color.Get some gorm.0 -

I need something that will go with soli wooden oak worktops, as thats what has been chosen already0 -
I had a solid wood birch kitchen installed a few months ago. I got it off www.clickkitchens.co.uk Their quality and service is really good and they were really cheap. I shopped around before settling for this kitchen. I had a look at magnet, wickes, ikea and mfi but their units were really flimsy and cheapo looking and we also got Kitchens direct in to give us a quote - big mistake!!.
If, as you say, you want something that will last over time, then it's not the doors but the kitchen units that you need to pay particular attention to.
Make sure you get good sturdy kitchen units because the cheapo ones will need replacing after a few years. Check that the backs of the units are solid and not flimsy as these tend to give over time. HTH0 -

You keep on, and on recommending them, do you work for or own clickkitchens? I suspect you do as I can't find them at all on Google so must assume you're here to promote them!0 -

I do recommend them because I think they're excellent. I've got a real quality kitchen really cheap so I thought I'd share it with fellow MSErs. I
thought this site was about telling people where they can save money.
I have absolutely no connections with this company other than I've bought a kitchen from them.
I've just googled clickkitchens and they're first on the list.
Hope that clears things up.0 -
Hmm, but no-one googling for a kitchen company would google for something as random as "clickkitchens" now would they? Search for anything like 'kitchens' or even longer searchterms and theyre nowhere to be seen. so I wonder how you came across them?0

...so I wonder how you came across them?
Well, like everyone else who knows how to use google, I searched for the following items:
"real wood kitchens" - Google page 2
"solid birch worktops" - Google page 1
"solid birch kitchens" - page 2
In future, before you go around making false accusations, I suggest you get your facts right.0 -
try googling for alarisavenue / arena kitchens
Have recently had a kitchen fitted which was supplied by alaris.
They have a good range and prices are good.
We looked at all the usual ikea/howdens etc etc and the alaris units are better quality than any of the units we saw from the other suppliers (imo).
The actual manufacturer for the range we bought is Mereway and is the same manufacturer as used by John Lewis for their kitchens - except ~60% cheaper than JL. (It was also cheaper than the Howdens quote we had)
Delivery was the day promised and the order was complete - ie no missing parts.
Hope its of some use0
