Our local post office is refusing to provide proof-of-postage receipts for items with pre-printed postage labels, claiming that they are a private business and the Royal Mail is doing the post offices out of their cut of the revenue. I can see their point.

Does anyone know if post offices are required to provide this service?

Why not have them all listed on a Certificate of Posting, then just get it stamped at the counter. Easiest solution .....

Its not proof of purchase you want, its proof of posting!!

I don't think they can provide a proof of postage receipt with pre paid labels, which I take it to mean the receipts they give that have a section to enter the details of items you have posted and paid for at the Post Office, but they should certainly stamp your "Proof of postage" card.

If you ask at the Post Office they should give you a few cards which you can fill and bring in with you when you drop parcels of and they can then stamp them. If no card available I was told by the helpline I could simply make a list of the names and addresses with total number of parcels on top and get this stamped which would act as proof of postage.

I too had a slight problem with my local office who asked me to drop the pre-paid parcels of at the attached sorting office but they had no means of providing a proof of postage and I lost a few parcels, after contacting the helpline who spoke to the office concerned I have now been dropping the parcels off and no problems getting the proof of postage stamped.

I have since lost two parcels and claimed using the proof of postage.
