Hi Enoughs enough I have trawled the internet for the last few months trying to get my parents long term travel insurance they are both 80 .They have couple of medical conditions but nothing serious and to be truthful they benefit from there long stay [just over 5 months ] in Grand Canaria. My Father now says he is going to travel without travel insurance My concern is how do i get them home if they are too ill to continue living abroad. Does anyone know of a company that just deals with repatriation insurance ?

Yes - The 2 companies I know of that will offer Repatriation/Medical Evacuation Insurance are:
- MEDEX - Offers Medical Evacuation/Repatriation Insurance for travelers residing in any country traveling worldwide. They have many plans - the one you will be looking for is SafeTrip.
- MEDJET ASSIST - Offers Medical Evacuation/Repatriation Insurance for travelers residing in the USA traveling worldwide. They also have many plans - the one you will be looking for is the "Diamond Plan".

Hi Thanks for the links . I used the Medex site but after reading the conditions i find this paragraph.
We have sole discretion in making the coverage determination for Your Transportation After Stabilization. Our determination will be based on Your need for continuing medical care. We will not return You to Your Home Country for the sole sake of Your convenience.
This worries me as this maybe the reason we need to get my father home
ie he is ill cant look after himself . I cant go and live in Spain has I have my own family and I cant leave him out there on his own. Catch 22. I have put in a request for Medex to contact me. I will keep the forum informed.0 -
I am not sure if this is what you are looking for. I found it via the Help the aged website. No upper age limit and up to 185 day trip.

I think you are right to be concerned as there has been some comment recently in the press about elderly ex-pats in Spain having to return to the UK as care service provision for the infirm is poor in comparison to the UK. Having experienced what the UK provides over the last 2 years for my Mother-in-law I hate to think what Spains provision might be like. In addition repatriation from the Canaries is likely to be hugely expensive.0 -
Quoted £599 [intune]a little expensive but its there if i dont get any joy from other companies0
