I've had no direct experience, but by chance I was talking to a local developer at the weekend.
He's had to build them into his new scheme.
From reading between the lines, its the ongoing maintenance/management of them that 'could' cause the issues. Who will maintain them/cut grass etc. Clear them out of silt after say 10 yrs.
Local District council don't want to...although their planners insisted on it; water cos=no; he's even tried the local parish council=no way.
He's had to set up a local mgt co, give a share to each householder, they will have to pay into a sink fund, and leave the management to them.
He's worried it will put off some potential buyers.0
