If you prove to Virgin that you are a good credit risk by staying within your credit limit and not missing any payments, Virgin will probably increase your initial credit limit after 6 - 12 months, quite possibly to £5,000.0

Ok, the wedding needs to be paid up by beginning of June, so,could,do,with it before then really but it could be an option if nothing else comes up, thank you.0

Is there any reason he can't share the cost and make up the £1.5K shortfall with an application in his name?Reachforthestars wrote: »My income is £20289 part time employment, my partners is £31000, we have a mortgage for £496 a month and 2 children.
Or is he carrying some debt of his own already? If he is, then that will affect your applications through the financial association created by the joint mortgage.0 -
He dosnt have any debt never had any credit cards etc I've checked him out on clearacore he has rating of 483 but no credit history he's also self e,played which I believe may negatively effect it, I had considered giving it a try though.0

Well, curiosity got the better of me and I applied to barclaycard and I've been approved for a limit of £5000! Should of just gone for barclaycard in the first place had I known! So I now have the £5000 I wanted plus £3500 for 'emergency'. The monthly payments minimum are sloglhty higher with bc at 2.25% and virgin just 1% but I intend to lay more than the minimum once the wedding is done anyway. Can't believe it! Thanks for the help0

I've just bagged a new credit card 2 weeks ago with a Clearscore 'rating' of 379 (I know...the shame of it!).Reachforthestars wrote: »He dosnt have any debt never had any credit cards etc I've checked him out on clearacore he has rating of 483 but no credit history he's also self e,played which I believe may negatively effect it, I had considered giving it a try though.
I bagged 3 in quick succession earlier this year when it was 422 (probably why it's now 379).
In short...you can somewhat ignore the numbers!0 -

Stay under 30% of total balances spending or you're not going to get any more credit.0
