I have run out of dishwasher tabs and need to put it on this evening it's full to the brim and I am on economy 7 so it has to wash through the night. I have washing up liquid, star drops, washing powder. Does anyone know if I could use any of these as an alternative?
I have done a search especially on the stardrops as I think this will be the most likely replacement but can't see anything.

I wouldn't... I think it'll bubble up too much! I would be tempted to put it on without any soap in there to be honest... maybe some vinegar sloshed in the bottom for the glasses to stay clearDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

why not just wash by hand if its that desperate?
i wouldn't put washing up liquid in, heard of someone doing this and the bubbles flooded the kitchen!Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
If you have any washing soda that works a treat. Most detergents will foam up too much for your dishwasher - just try whatever you use in your washing machine for clothes - it will be 'low foam'.
At the end of the day though, it is all just soap! Even if you try another detergent that foams up, it won't harm your machine but you might end up with a kitchen full of bubbles and a big cleaning up job - kids will probably love it though. Watch the vinegar/bleach/etc, if you use it alongside washing powder it can cause it to create the foam you don't want. Been there, done that, cleaned it up!0 -

Just tried mine as an experiment with biological washing powder. One heaped spoonfull - seemed to clean ok - doesn't smell lemony tho like it normally does
(my biopowder is mixed surf and value to make it cheaper hehe so it smells "tropical" :S )
No bubbles everywhere tho so could be used in an emergencyDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I used star drops in my mums a few times. It was fine, but just don't use too much or, as tine says, you'll be cleaning your floor much earlier than intended, lol.
I know I'm a bit late, but you might need to know for another time
