Virgin Media Payment Processing charge

I had occaision to cancel my direct debit , being close to the payment date and wanting to pay it from another account. In any event I noticed on my next bill that the payment processing fee was just 45 pence. I assumed this was a small amount because it only related to a couple of days as last I heard it was £5 per month.
I've argued about this before and had Virgin insist this is what it cost them, but when I asked for some proof their response was along the lines of 'we have calculated it'.
It seems things have changed unbeknown to me, the website now says
"
What's the payment handling fee?
If you don’t pay by Direct Debit there will be a payment handling fee. Depending on your contract, you’ll pay either 45p or £5 per month, but you can move to the 45p fee by agreeing a new minimum period of at least 12 months with Virgin Media"
This is a welcome change I wasn't aware of. I take this to mean that the 45 pence is nearer to what it costs them. I will give credit where it is due and say I am glad there has been some movement on this as their prior posturing wasn't at all convincing.
Liink below to this info, apologies if this has already been discussed, I certainly wasn't aware of this.

Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.

Not wanting to go over old ground as this has been debated often, the bottom line is providing they give notice of the charge they can do it. Your ultimate sanction is to switch services to one that doesn't have such a charge, but I've never found one!0
