Freer, I took delivery of my kitchen last Monday but it was shipped from their factory before the weekend so your kitchen may be on a lorry somewhere en route, fingers crossed for you.

Hi Valley, thanks so much, I'm in a panic. I hope you are right, I'm not getting any response from anyone but the fitter doesn't seem to know anything and is still booked to fit the kitchen tomorrow. I assume I should start looking elsewhere asap?
  • I do not know where to start my bank cannot help, the guy at betta living has washed his hands of it and will not help all we have are the bank transfer record with ref and account details

Peted13, have you sent an email to shawbrook?
  • I phoned them and then off the back emailed them with all the details, quiet worryingly they had no record of us, unless the money hasn't hit yet.

    Good afternoon Mr Doggett

Thank you for your email. We have been advised that Betta Living went into administration on Friday, 4 November 2016. An administrator has not yet been appointed.

Unfortunately we are unable to assist with your deposit request, as we have no documentation confirming a loan was agreed for you through Shawbrook Bank

We would advise you make contact with the administrator once appointed to raise your claim with them

    Best regards

    Mark Jones
  • Went to Wren yesterday and had a positive experience. They're clearly taking an opportunity presented to them rather than acting out of any altruism, but there's nothing wrong with that. I guess the value of their offer depends on how good a deal you got from Betta Living in the first place.
A couple of things to know.
    - Their offer to cover your deposit up to 10% of the total value only covers the goods, it excludes installation.
    - They weren't overly restrictive around how they assigned like-for-like. I think we got a slightly better oven and microwave out of it, but Mrs Sneekes was disappointed they didn't do Blanco sinks.

I've spoken to Shawbrook today (the email address is consumercomplaints@shawbrook.co.uk (no dot in the first part Matt.Hitchcock :-) ) They wouldn't at this point let me out of my commitment to the loan, but at least they're talking to me They say they recognise why I want to get out and will represent that to the administrator. I reminded them that their T&Cs say that they will only forward any credit once good are delivered.
I've since asked them if hypothetically Betta Living were trading normally and I cancelled my order - what would I owe to Shawbrook? Haven't had a response to that yet.

    Fingers crossed for you Freer.

  • Any monies that were sent on Friday for this weeks fittings were cancelled, Shawbrooks have offered to pay us the fitting costs, but our problem is we have items missing !
