Small fraud

Does anyone who knows banking practices know if it is normal for Lloyds to say no to refunding £50 for a wrong cheaper item sent drom a UK co that turned out to be from China until the customer pays £12 to return it to that false co in China with tracking?

It's not fraud. Sounds like they're offering to do a chargeback if you send the goods back. Your choice really.

Perhaps because people can't understand why anyone might think that Lloyds is in any way responsible?
  • Lloyds are not responsible for the OP's 'mistake' in trusting that a website would be fulfilling the order that he paid for, but they have given him incorrect instructions.

Unless I'm making an incorrect assumption here, it sounds like he has received a counterfeit item and you do not need to return it before a chargeback is raised.

Or the OP could have paid for a cheaper item not realising that it was not the original but perhaps misread the description in his rush to buy a bargain. In which case it is not a counterfeit.

I have to admit that a couple of years ago I fell for something like this. It was a .co.uk website selling DVD box sets. What eventually arrived was home recorded DVD's of the television programmes in question in English with Chinese subtitles.
My chargeback was successful (Natwest debit card). I have never returned the goods or been asked to do so. I have them in their box and will happily return them should anybody come to pick them up.

Neither OP nor anyone else claimed Lloyds was responsible. The question was answered in post 2, why the need to rub it in? What does this contribute exactly?
    The answer is in post5*

No mate it wasn't. It was answered in post 2. Never mind.
