Thanks so much for all the tips. Will sit down with the OH this weekend to plan. We're actually going to Wilson's Prom this weekend. I do have concerns about driving to Adelaide when there's not much there...I would rather go to Sydney for New Year but it's obviously very expensive.
Slinga I can't believe you found the food disappointing in Melbourne, bar one or two meals that have been poor I think I've eaten some of the best food of my life in the 3 months I've been here. Certainly in comparison to some of the restaurants I've spent double or triple the price at in London!0 -

I've just been to see my Neurologist and said the same to him.
He said I should email next time we go as he had a handful of great restaurants in Melbourne which he would recommend.
But Melbourne is now off the list for us.It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Wow that's brutal. Well if you change your mind I would highly recommend Chin Chin, Fatto, Claypots or Patsuso to eat and Black Pearl for drinks.
We just got back from SA and had an amazing time at the vineyards. Actually preferred Coonawarra to the Barossa and Langhorn Creek. Didn't make it to Clare Valley or McLaren Vale but would go back in a heartbeat.
Adelaide itself is very small but we had a lovely meal at Jamface in the market and stopped by a couple of tourist spots (pink lake and mount gambier) on the way.
We're now planning our first international trip to SE Asia. I'm tempted by this STA tour http://tours.statravel.co.uk/trip/bangkok-to-singapore-on-a-shoestring-gaatrm but OH isn't sure we couldn't do it for ourselves cheaper. Anyone have any thoughts?0 -
I'm in Perth right now!!
It's a lovely city, close to the Swan Valley wine region, and not far from the Margaret River wine region. Also Rottnest Island is a must-see.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
