I realise this was under the last government, but it was also that government that introduced the triple lock.
The present government is already hinting at changes.
That is nothing like already making planes to raise pension age to 81.

    No, I mean boomers.
Do you really think all boomers are rich, your parents might be but I know plenty who aren't.

It is interesting this complaint about rich boomers because they are the generation that created the wealth that allows young people today to go on gap years (year long holidays) holidays abroad, buy new cars, buy computers, iphones, dishwashers, fridges, fitted kitchens, better housing, paid for the NHS, etc. If the boomers hadn't been such hard workers young people today would still have been living in houses without fridges, washing machines and dishwashers, computers, iphones, holidays, cars, etc. Boomers worked in factories assembling cars, fridges, washing machines and anything else that is now computerised. How many young people today want a job working in a factory. I hear people say that it is boring. Well that boring repetitive work created the wealth to buy all these "things" that young people value.

Our last car was bought second hand and we got rid of it at 11 years old because it has started to become unreliable. There seems to be a lot of people on this thread who have been running really old cars. I wonder how many of the people that the OP knows of the same age as the OP who are driving round in really old cars as opposed to ones bought new on finance.

I suspect that the young generation have a lot of jealousy of each other as well as old people. There seems to be a lot of competition to be the person who has the latest gadget or the newest car. Designer baby clothes? Designer children's clothes? Designer anything clothes? Fashion items? Boomers didn't have these because ordinary clothing was very expensive and when you bought something you made it last. Children's clothes got passed down because they were only worn for a short time before the child grew out of them and were not worn out by then. People had new soles put on shoes.

Boomers as children did not tend to have to have their milk teeth removed because they were rotten. There was no spare money for sugary fizzy drinks. If you wanted a drink you drank water.

OP you are complaining about a small number of people who had very little money when they were young and learned to live a frugal life and who continued to live a frugal life even when they had more money and so built up a large amount of savings. There is an even bigger group of people who have lived frugal lives and have never earned enough to build up savings. Not all boomers are wealthy. The ones that you hear about in the media are the top of the pyramid.

You shouldn't believe everything you read in the press. There are more mortgages granted to first time buyers than there are to buy to let landlords. Also because you are young you don't realise how many people lived in rented housing. I would suggest that you do a bit of research on boarding houses.

No poor boomer is as poor as they should be and every rich boomer is richer than they should be.

And its all due to intergenerational theft.

You really are bitter can you explain exactly how a boomer has stolen from the younger generation.

The houses are all unaffordable to an obscene degree, thank to the boomers. Almost all the consumer items you mention are now made mostly or exclusively overseas, the jobs outsourced and long gone. Boomers cost the NHS far more than they pay in over their lifetime and as for "created the wealth" ... you are leaving a £3 trillion debt!

    Thanks boomers.

A stupid, ugly and lazy generalisation indicative of a clumsy mind that struggles with nuanced thought.

How did boomers make house prices unaffordable.

Boomer theft, yes I know its American but the issues are broadly the same.
