Concrete driveway

As above - do I need planning permission or anything else to consider?
At the moment I just have a single path up the drive with a gravel strip running up the side of that.
The area has a small incline up to the house.

Yes, it is a non-porous driveway and you will need planning permission.
I dislike concrete drives as they are rigid. The ground always moves and swells which makes concrete drives prone to cracking. Even with expansion gaps, they are still prone to cracking.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

what is the best driveway then? I have block paving and don't like it - the maintenance. I like the look of the patterned concrete stuff, I had tarmac but it was too narrow and dug up when they put fiber optic cable in.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

So what do you think looks great?0 -
The drive I want is just your basic white/grey smooth concrete not the printed pattern stuff.
A neighbor has recently had it done an it looks really good
I know it sounds pretty basic but they have had it done in big sections and each section has been edged in slate grey blocks. It also has the advantage of adding extra sections if needed.
Doozergirl - do you think having it laid this way in sections would stop any possible cracking problems?0 -
you could still keep grass and have wired plastic supports for the car wheels
