Multi fuel burner question

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help please. I've been looking for the best coal to use on a multi fuel burner and came across a site that said you shouldn't mix two different fuels together in the fire ie wood and coal. It said it could damage the flue liner. I couldn't see anything about it on other sites.

If you are burning coal, it must be a smokeless fuel and NOT regular house coal. Ordinary house coal gives off way too much tar which gets deposited on the inside of the liner and leads to early failure.

You can burn wood & smokeless coal at the same time (well, I do anyways). But the ash can't be used in the garden, so needs to go in the bin.
