Canal walking break ideas please

Hi,
Does anyone know of any nice pubs / hotels on or near good canal walks?
We want to stay 2- 3 nights, spend our days walking, come back to a roaring fire, real ale and good pub food. Anywhere midlands or north west.
I am busy researching but thought i would ask as somebody usually knows somewhere.
Thanks

I don't know the area well enough to comment, but I do have recent experience of a canal boat company. I bought afternoon tea for my mum for her 83rd birthday, and her friend who has just turned 80. The company was great. They decorated a corner of the barge with balloons and a banner, and gave them both a free drink. They were mindful of their limited mobility and attentive during the cruise without being intrusive. The food, I believe, was lovely. Pricewise, it was only £18 each for afternoon tea and a two hour cruise.
I drove them to Worsley and parked at the Bridgewater Hotel opposite. Parking is £1 for three hours, but if you buy something inside, it is refunded. My son and I had lunch and a soft drink whilst we waited. It was a pleasant and quiet pub.
It might not be what you are looking for, but if you want to check the company that I used, here's the link:

Stretching the north west requirement look at Skipton.
Loads of pubs, on the Leeds Liverpool canal, with the bonus that if you walk towards Leeds (downhill!) you can get the train back from any number of stations so you aren't doing the route twice.
Even the other way you can walk to Gargrave and get a train back.0 -
Thanks, will look at Skipton, any pubs with B &B you know of?0

Hi,
I have never stayed, but eaten here a few times (good food and pub). Close to the canal and within walking distance of Skipton train station and the castle.

You could try the Llangollen canal in North Wales, being quite a touristy area there will be lots of B+B's in that area. There is also the pontcysyllte aqueduct which is a sight to see.
