New credit card application timing

Just looking for some opinions, I'm wanting to get a cc to pay for our honeymoon it needs to be paid beginning of April, I'm just wondering whether to apply closer to the time- to give more time afterwards to pay it off should it be needed (hoping to go for the Sainsbury's 28 months 0%, hope to,get it paid before the end date but like the extra time as a fall back just Incase, just reassuring) and also to not have to start paying monthly payments towards paying it off until I really have to- April. With all th either expenses of a wedding at the moment.
Or had I best apply now Incase I have trouble getting approved and can have some time to either look around or sort an alternative. And also so I'll know what limit I'll have if I'm successful.
I've done the check on here and it's looking promising, I have a couple,of store cards/mobile contracts x2, a couple of electrical items I had last yr on 0%, my enagement ring. Everything has always been kept up to date and is all paid off, bar a final payment on my iPad next month and something I had from Argos to pay £100 by Feb, I'll prob clear this in the next week or 2.
But I realise that it dosnt always garentee a sucesful application so I'm a little wary and want to try and be prepared. Thanks

Credit applications are specific to you and your circumstances.0

Why does it matter if you get it now or later? you'll still have the same length of time to pay it back0

Because I'm not planning on spending on it until April so if I left it till say march then it will start from March rarther than November, but I'm worried Incase I have trouble getting one or the limit is low as that will effect how much I can book a honeymoon for. So to enable me to know what price range to look at I thought about getting it now, but I wouldn't be making the big purchase until April- 12 weeks before departure. Although I'll be booking it before then the deposit will be paid with 'real' cash, leaving the rest of the holiday to be paid on card.0

I'd get it now for safety's sake.
If, for example, you move jobs between now and March (in this climate, it may not be your choice) - your chances will drop due to lack of job stability, and your salary may be affected.
Then you know how much you can put on it etc.
Also if you get a lower than expected limit, but spend on it and pay back in full every month (to demonstrate a payment history) you may have some luck in phoning and requesting a limit increase at the 3 month stage.
Unless your credit file is impeccable I'd weight towards sorting it out sooner rather than later.0 -

You'd be better doing it the other way round, then if something were to happen you would have section 75 protection,0 -
Great thanks for the help, I've had store cards but not credit cards before so just want to make sure I'm doing it all right. I've paid my Argos balance yesterday but it's not showing on my account yet, I really want to do the application but would like them to see I've paid the Argos card thinking it will go in my favour and may effect the amount I get offered. not sure if they will see that even though it's not updated on my online account yet, it says it can take up to 48hrs to show.0

I have some bad news for you. CRAs are updated once per month with account status, and it's not uncommon for there to be a 2-3 month lag with some providers!Reachforthestars wrote: »I've paid my Argos balance yesterday but it's not showing on my account yet, I really want to do the application but would like them to see I've paid the Argos card thinking it will go in my favour and may effect the amount I get offered. not sure if they will see that even though it's not updated on my online account yet, it says it can take up to 48hrs to show.0 -
Right ok well then I might aswell go ahead and apply if that's the case then, it was only £100 and still had until Feb to pay it on the 0% interest offer.0
