It think the above is called misrepresentation - on your part.
If you demonstrate that your personal information is inaccurate, we will correct it.
Clearly they are referring to their own databases, and you know that. Where does it say something along the lines of ".... and we'll update the CRAs as well" - with particular reference to financial associations?
Points to consider:
Do CRAs routinely check that financial associations are valid? No.
Given the answer to the above is No, why would the CRAs remove an association because a lender tells them there isn't one (for that lender)? They don't do so because there may be other lenders with whom you do have an association. In your case, are you telling us the CRAs checked on this, didn't find anything, so removed the association?0 -
I made a statement.
I backed it up with a real life example.
I backed the real life example up with evidence from said provider's Privacy Policy.
If you clutch at those straws any more tightly you'll break them!

Clutching at straws!! Here's YBS's own relevant T&C:
An ‘association’ between the joint applicants and/or any individual identified as your spouse or financial partner will be created at credit reference agencies, which will link your financial records. You and anyone else with whom you have a financial link should understand that each other’s information will be taken into account in all future applications by either or both of you. This linking will continue until one of you successfully files a ‘disassociation’ at the credit reference agencies.

Ah I see what you're saying GB.
It's of no concern to me anyway as I'll get the CRAs to remove the association anyway.
Of course they say things like "consider" and "may refuse" etc. I'm sure there are people out there who try and disassociate themselves when the association is still there, so it's understandable that they can't say "we'll remove any association you request even if there is one". I also don't see any issue with the form, it asks for relevant information to process the request.
Anyway, I have my answer. Waiting on my Experian report and will request via them and job done (hopefully without any need for further action).0 -
Well, it seems you don't have to get your report at all to ask for disassociation. I filled in the form and put N/A in the reference field and this morning have an email confirming the disassociation.
Or maybe they saw I'd asked for a report and cross-referenced it. Either way it's all sorted. Just waiting on Equifax now.
Shame I also paid for the report as I assume it wouldn't work but it's handy to have regardless0
