Online Current Account with Instant Setup?

Options
I signed up for Halifax reward account with the intention to switch my bank and get the £100.

I didn't realise that it's only selected banks which take part in the switching scheme, and my building society wasn't one of them.

Therefore I can't claim the £100 and Halifax don't want to know.

On principle I'm thinking of opening a current account just for the purpose of switching to Halifax (jumping through hoops, a waste of time but such is life). I want something in the scheme with an instant online setup.

Any ideas?

Instant online setup won't get you an instant debit card, which you'll need to initiate the switch to Halifax.

Why do you need it done instantly? Halifax even let people who have opened their Halifax current account years and years ago switch a bank account to them for £100.

I found that the fastest was definitely Barclays. Account opened Tuesday evening, bank details provided immediately, debit card received by Friday dinner time. That way you could initiate a switch and get the aforementioned £100.

Or just switch the Halifax account to TSB to bag their £100?

Why the need for a debit card?
I switched an account that didn't have one! no problems

I was hoping to switch a derelict a/c to Halifax (to my real reward a/c) but was told it had to be my main a/c with DDs and salary paid in that I was going to switch! Annoying- no-one has said that before (with other switches I mean)

No mention on DD for the new halifax switch, you just need to be aware that the account will get closed, I switched someone yesterday that had an old Natwest account and no DD or salary, they just paid some money in so there was something to switch.

If there's no debit card attached to the account being switched you won't have a problem. However, if there is (and the receiving bank will find out when they start the process) then you will have a problem. Very few accounts I've opened have given me the option of NOT having a debit card.

If they said it verbally (though why you'd have to ask when the written T&Cs are very clear I don't know!) then it means nothing!
