Norfolk Broads boating with Two Teenagers. Things to do?

Hi all

We really want to go on a boating holiday on Norfolk Broads in Summer but we are worried that our Two Teenagers (Girl 15 & boy 14) will get bored. We think that as soon as the novelty of cruising for the first day or Two has worn off the kids will be bored, which as any parent of teens will know having a bored teenager on your hands is a fate worse then death. We have looked on various websites but the area of The Broads is so large (and there are so many places to start out from) that it is difficult to know which area is best.

Any advice guys?

what sort of thing are you looking for.

I tend to agree that teens would be bored on a cruiser on the broads. 5mph most of the time is relaxing for adults and boring for teens.

Outside of the main berthing areas the broads are formed with banks of very high reeds, so there can be very little to see while you travel along at 5mph.

  • Also have a look at the link below of what people do on the Broads and some recommendation for boozers, eateries, etc.

My wife and I did this before kids and enjoyed it and would love to do it again.

But not with my teen kids now, it is tempting on one front as there are some amazing larger boats now (even ones with wifi) so would be plenty of room and comfort. The only other catch is some larger boats won't go under some bridges so you can be restricted where you can go.

Sorry but I think your gut instinct is right, think of something else.

How about renting a camper van instead so you can move base to places with things to do?

Or, alternatively, rent a boat on a more lively waterway such as the Thames.

  • Yup

Think it's too risky. A lot of money to waste if kids are bored.

    Thanks all.

This is going on the back burner until University calls.
