In the process of buying a place in Chester and the searches have pulled up bits about HS2 and it's potential impact, in addition to contamination as the place is within/near the city walls, river. Should I be worried about this? Especially the HS2 part? I've heard the government could force you to buy the place off you in the future? Plus noise pollution etc

'Bits about HS2' isn't an adequate description for anyone to make a half-reasoned comment here.
I'd imagine anywhere close to the old city in any conurbation would throw up possible contamination issues. At least with a place like Chester you can do some decent research yourself about the local area and what went on there.
When young, I had an allotment on top of a Roman glass works, where they must've used heavy metals, but I'm afraid I still ate the vegetables....and over 40 years later I'm still here!0 -
Look at the proposed HS2 route and see what effect it will have. I wasn't aware it was going anywhere near Chester.0

The HS2 line shouldn't be too loud unless you lived real close? The construction will be, though...0
