gesture of goodwill on TravelMoney Card - Advice needed

I would love some advice please.
We recently went on holiday and took with us our travel money card after being told of all the wonderful benefits. After a couple of days, the app stopped tracking out purchases, so we couldn't see them - just that the money had gone down. Then, it stopped working - the card was being declined, but the value was still going down. Massively embarrassing and very concerning! where had our money gone?!?
I called the hotline on the card twice and finally was told that the mastercard system had gone down and it should be fixed, but if it hasn't then probably by the next day and that there was nothing they could do.
I had to use our debit card when we away and incurred charges, and overdraft charges and to add to the misery the card was cloned.

I complained upon my return and have been offered the £42 in phone charges for speaking to them abroad. and we have also been offered £40 compensation from our travel money card after being left with no money - I questioned this and they counter offered £60. What are the thought of my fellow MSE's?

A friend of mine said I should pursue through the ombudsmen but I'm not sure its worth the additional annoyance.

I would be looking for at least all your costs back.
Overdraft, card fees and telephone costs.

Told by whom, the Post Office? If this is their Travel Money Card Plus, I just checked their rates for loading the euro card, 1.077, when the mid-rate now is 1.123 - that's got to be the worst value I've ever come across. No doubt the buy-back rate to get your unused funds off the card is also awful.

Try to get what you can from them, preferably into your bank account in pounds, not onto the card. Then in future use a better value card such as Revolut, Soldo, or even FairFX. As for their story of the MasterCard system going down, I think that's unlikely.

You won't find any 'wonderful benefits' of the PO card recommended here:

Only a fool would fail to plan for such an eventuality. Stop moaning and learn from your short-sightedness.

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the advice, have taken their gesture and it is being paid directly into my account (eDicky sound advice!)

Saw that their offer would cover the overall costs (Heng Leng thanks!)

I did take cash and had a back up debit card, but when that was cloned, I then had no money - anywhere! (Not an fool cooltt! Fail to plan, plan to fail - not my failure - MasterCard's. You might want to read things out loud before you post. It comes across as you just being mean)

    Appreciate your help
