Returning Lease Car & service

If your lease is for 12 months and the car service interval is 12 months or 10k and you have not reached the mileage but you are returning the car 12 months after you got it would you be expected to have serviced it. No maintenance included and lease says have to adhere to the service intervals.? Any help welcome never had a lease car before.

The manufacturer will allow a small leeway either way for warranty purposes but maybe not the lease co. In theory, if it's less than 12 months (or 10k) you should be ok, but 1 dayor more over may technically mean you're charged for a service after it's gone back

Perhaps the answer is to give them a call and ask.

i have an astra on a 1yr lease. I was planning on returning the car 1 to 2 weeks before its 1st anniversary so as to hopefully avoid the service. I am not sure if this is possible (yet) car is due to be returned 25 may.

And what you think they're going to say - "sure, hand the car back and let us pick up the service cost" ;)
  • I'd return it a few weeks before the first service, tell them you'll pay to the end. Cocoon Vehicles who do the Short Term Contracts have been really good with servicing, etc when I've sent them back early
  • Ditto what rhysadams states return few weeks before and you can avoid the cost.

Yes just to conclude-I serviced and sent back 2 days after 1 year but turns out I did not have to ! typical -there view was service had to be done within a month of year so they would have done-probs much cheaper for them ! lesson learnt!
