How do i know if I will better off with an electric shower?

Electricity costs 3 to 4 times more than gas, so if your existing shower is heated by a gas boiler then an electric shower is certain to cost you more to run.
Not necessarily. An electric shower is 100% efficient so every penny spent on electricity goes into heating the water in the shower.
Gas boilers, even the best ones, are not 100% efficient. Plus, you have to factor in the heat loss from the pipework and the tank. I'm not sure of the OP's circumstances but my shower runs on cheap rate electricity that costs barely more then twice the cost of gas. The gas boiler is over 40 years old and in an outbuilding with long pipe runs so, overall, running at less than 50% efficiency. I've taken the readings, done the maths, and concluded that the electric shower is far cheaper than using gas.0 -
