council flat- how long to replace combi boiler?

The one in situ is failing more often than not- pressure cuts out..

last repair bod said council were planning to replace them, but i wondered would this be a quick fix, or do i need to book time (days?) off work?

the water pipes and electrics, to/from boiler, and vent through wall are ok..
breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??

Have you tried asking the local council?
It may cost you a phone call.

    Should take 1-2 days.

I had a combi replace in 6 hours last year - it was a straight swap and no major piping works were needed

I am taking into account the makes and models of both the existing and replacement boilers; the local authority involved; the company to which the contract has been outsourced, the age and experience of the engineer assigned to your flat; the location of the boiler within the flat; the distance between the lowest system drain point and the nearest waste drain, and the amount of rust and detritus within the pipework.

I estimate the job will take 9.4 hours spread over 3 non-consecutive days.
  • My boiler replacement took 1 person 1 full day. Then a second day to do some boxing in.

...but only if there is an R in the month, otherwise (and taking into account daylight saving time) it could be as much as 9.6 hours and spread into the following week, whereupon you would need to factor in the score-line of the Sheffield Wednesday match.

    Boxing Day?
  • In our last property the landlord eventually had to replace the ancient combi boiler. I'm pretty sure it was done in one day, though I can't remember exactly how long it took.

From experience my boiler and new radiators in housing association flat took a day. I didn't have to stay in all day so went out for few hours, popped back and out again came back as they were finishing.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
