Screws for fencde

Hi all

Putting up a fence this weekend and its cost a lot to date so dont want to mess it up by purchasing the wrong screws. I will be putting 20mm thick boards onto 75x50 rails. will these screws be good to put the boards up?

Worried about rust and also splitting boards.

13m to go up so dont fancy drilling pilot holes haha

Thanks

You want galvanised nails, hot dipped preferably (square twist nails would probably be okay). Either that or stainless steel.

Galvanised nails would be better get them in Toolstation or Screwfix far too expensive in the DIY sheds.
Use screws if you want & have a cordless screwdriver.
Put 2 screws / nails per board or the boards will twist over time.
No need to drill pilot holes just keep about an inch in from the edge of the boards you are fixing.
Rust of the screws will not bother you.....todays cra**y timber will be rotten long before your screws !!
