Window in loft

My house is on a corner plot and the house next door has fitted a Window on the side of their house in the loft area (under the eaves) that overlooks my house.

He hasn't applied for planning permission or has gone through building regs, though I watched it being fitted and seems to be a decent job.

Is there anything I can do as it really invades my privacy and what would the council do ?

do you really want to get into a neighbor dispute over this? do they sit at the window watching? get some blinds maybe?

Is it a velux type window on the sloping part of the roof?

No it is a normal flat window.
I have not explained myself very well - it is on the side of the house where the front and back (tiled roof) meets at a point.

Oops, OP added info making my post irrelevant. I'll come back to this later.

So its a window in the gable end?

Here we go, the planning rules for a window rather than a rooflight...... If new windows are in an upper-floor side elevation they must be obscure-glazed and either non opening or more than 1.7 metres above the floor level to not require planning permission.

Flesh coloured underwear for added WT... value

If it's into a loft space that's only "storage" then its not a problem, op do you know what they do in the loft? Is it properly converted or part of the house?

We have a window in our gable end, overlookingour garden, the road and some bungalows opposite.

No problem until last week when we had to have two trees removed. Now I realise I can't aimlessly gaze out of the window without seeming to look into the living room opposite!

I was a bit !!!!ed off last week - my nosey neighbours were looking at me when I had not underpants on (just a t-shirt)I had just stripped off after a run.
I'm getting annoyed now that people think its ok to stare at me - from their bedroom - in my living room.

Someone's already posted the planning requirement for obscure glass in side facing windows if they aren't at a high level internally.

You can ask your neighbour to put film over the glass or report it to the planning department.

It may well only be storage space etc but if it does become a proper loft conversion then the status quo will take precedence after four years and you will really lose privacy.
