Washing machine HELP!

Hello all

Newbie here :hello:

I'm after a reliable washing machine, no more than £300(ish) with quick wash cycle/s and ideally not too noisy.

I've been into Currys twice, researched online and have signed up to Which?, but I can't seem to find anything which meets this basic criteria! :wall:

When I've read reviews for the best buys recommended by Which? very often they are contradictory and disappointing....

I've come across several washing machines that despite being advertised as having a 'quick wash' function, it's only for a very light load! I want something which can handle a full load.....and without me having to put it through another spin cycle (as that defeats the whole object really!)

I am shocked at the standard washing times of some of these modern machines....2-3 hours is ridiculous!

I didn't think buying a washing machine would be so blimmin' difficult!

Thanking all you lovely people in advance! xx

  • I know what you mean - you can drive yourself mad researching! Maybe a bit cheaper than what you're looking for but we have a beko washing machine that has a wide variety of cycles. It has 4 short cycles going from 15-48 minutes. If I want a deeper clean, I go for the 1:48 cycle. It's really easy to use, though and I've had no issues. Would recommend.

  • Also, if you need it, would definitely recommend AO installation services - they install, test, video, explain and then take the rubbish away.
  • Thank you Adele :) So kind of you to take the time to reply.

Just a query, are the 4 short cycles limited to light loads only? Do they leave clothes in a load of water? (...thereby having to put them through another cycle?)
Would you say it was very noisy? x

The current long washes are to meet the eco regulations to get the A++++++ ratings.

Many have the speed my wash up function

    Take our Bosch,
    full load(8kg) cotton wash
    2:45 standard time
3.15 Eco the one that gets the rating
    1:05 go faster option
    1:15 go faster +extra rinse.

    Most machine will have similar.
many people never do full loads most of the time anyway
an 8kg machine a full load is 40ish shirts

Best value at upto £300 budget will be a Beko.

we often use the long washes,
A bit of planning and a decent size machine can get 4 full loads through wash & dry in a day, thats over a months worth of clothes for one person.

throw in a towel wash and a sheets wash in between.

washing machines prices vary a lot with the various discounts deals and cashbacks watch for a while you will save a bundle of money.

I found price spy usefull but did not catch all the deals.

have a good look through the beko site
    http://www.beko.co.uk/

short list a few beko model to benchmark the rest against.

quick look in budget and you can get
    http://www.beko.co.uk/a-9kg-1400rpm-washing-machine-wx943440-white

    9kg in 30 mins

The other thing to do is download and read the manual for your shortlist
    for that machine
    http://downloads.beko.co.uk/bekoupload/manuals/WX943440W.pdf

key feature I looked for were the ability to select temp and spin on any program.

I too would recommend buying from ao.com very competitive on price with great delivery options. I recently purchased a sub £200 tumble dryer from them and am very pleased.

They also have some good reviews from customers for all the products.

Please look at manual of the washing machine u want before you buy. Almost all machines with short cycle have load limit of 2-5 kg on these short cycles. I think the shortest cycles u may find with full. Load with be around an hour.

BEKO claim 30mins for their full load quick daily washes.

these are different to the normal program quick wash which are 1/2 loads.

stained clothes need longer for the bio enzymes to work effectively.
  • @gem4less - That was very helpful, I will take that on board.

Thanks guys for your feedback much appreciated!
