Unauthorised deposits

I made a £2 payment to wowcher via PayPal this morning. There's since been two payments of £141.89 and £106.89 taken from my PayPal account to sportsdirect.com. Obviously I've reported this to the bank who are dealing with this and I've changed my PayPal password, but is there anything else I can do or anyone else I should be contacting?

I can't raise a dispute with PayPal yet as the payment is still pending.

If you're implying that there could be a link to the timing of your Wowcher transaction then I'd suggest (on the basis that Wowcher wouldn't have got your PayPal login) that you should be considering the security of the computer/tablet/phone you used to log-in to PayPal with.

If that's compromised in some way then changing the password, if done on the same device, might not have helped.

But PayPal are the obvious place to raise a dispute with - if you didn't order anything from SportsDirect you should be telling them asap. The bank may not be able to help, the transactions are between PayPal and SportsDirect, not the bank and SportsDirect.

So these aren't unauthorised deposits, they're PayPal payments you say you didn't make? Deposits are made into an account, not out of an account.

As others have said you'll need to raise this with PayPal. I'd say the timing in relation to your Wowcher payment is purely a coincidence - they wouldn't have access to your PayPal account to make fraudulent transactions. Has your phone/laptop/computer/tablet been in your possession and logged out of PayPal all day? Is it possible somebody used it in your absence?

My apologies. It should say debits. Not sure how to edit it though. My phone was locked in my locker at work at the time the money was taken out.

Do these payments show any references?
If yes have you considered contacting Sports Direct and asking them what is going on and perhaps getting these orders stopped before they have been shipped?
