Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction.
Had a Greenstart Junior fitted about four years ago. All good, serviced yearly. Next service due in Feb.
Last couple of days the hot water in the bathroom upstairs has started to intermittantly cool if the central heating is on.
If I turn the CH off the water heats again
Any ideas?
Thanks

Has your water pressure reduced recently? My hot water will start hot then reduce if the boiler switches off because it senses too low a flow rate. I make sure to run the taps and shower at full rate to avoid cycling of the boiler.
Not sure why turning off the c/heating affects this.
Perhaps the flow rate setting in the boiler needs tweaking at the next service.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Water pressure seems the same, I haven't noticed a drop off.
If it continues I'll get him in to look.
I was hoping it might be something simple as I'm pretty handy around the house but want to leave this to people who know what they are doing0 -

The problem being people who knw what they are doing dont always know what they are doing !
I had a boiler repair engineer out once who diagnosed me needing replacement circuit boards, when it subsequently turned out to the the pump stuck and just needed freeing!0 -
You're sure nobody is running a hot tap momentarily downstairs? That could produce a blip in the boiler, meaning a short burst of cooler water upstairs.0

No other water, hot or cold, being run anywhere.
Well, heating was fine this morning but hot water ran for about a minute.
Pressure guage on boiler seems to be either very low or very high.
I've called the engineer0 -
Juniors aren't very good boilers tbh, sounds like the divertor valve or stepper motorI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Update.
Heat exchanger was blocked. Loads of 'bits'.
Had a power flush and magnetic filter fitted. First water flow was almost black, but by the time they finished was really clear.
All working now0 -
Thanks for letting us know the outcome (happy for you btw) as it might help others who find themselves in the same or a similar situation.0

So your system was dirty & you had a powerflush, while this has now cleaned out the divertor valve that was causing your problem it was hardly the right or cheapest optionI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
