HELP needed Courtesy car and holidays

Hello,
My car windscreens were smashed by vandals. Car has been with repairer via insurance 1.5 weeks. I told them I will be away soon (UK) so will need to use the car. I leave for my trip in 3 days, they said my car will be ready in 4. Ferries have been booked and can't be changed as I'm needed on a specfic date.
I will be away for 3 weeks, and will not be contactable. Can I take the courtesy car with me?
I don't know what to do? Will I face charges when I get back?
