line it up level it and just go through the holes with a small bit then take it down and drill the proper holes.

might need an extra pair of hands.

or make a template and tape it to the bricks level.

if you don't have help do one hole first to act as a support while you mark the others.

another option is use the bolts from the fixings and give them a good bash with a hammer that will mark the brick.

Thanks, wish I had checked before I got to work!

I was by myself and should have asked for a hand.

The trouble was I couldn't mark the wall, as the pencil wouldn't fit through the hole of the fixing, so i had to line it up on the wall, look at the point and then mark it quickly when I moved the fixing off.

This was a bad idea as I only got 3 to line up! so its on the wall now with two rawl bolts on one side and one on the other. A bit of a shame, but those rawl bolts are really strong and its going nowhere.

On reflection if I had just measured the distance of the fixing holes from each other and drawn it on the wall I would have had all four lined up. A good lesson if nothing else!:rotfl:
