Subsidised Service
My car is being serviced by the local Honda garage today. They tell me that the cost of the next three services is:
Year 1: £245 - paid now
Year 2: £235 - paid in year 2
Year 3: £245 - paid in year 3
Total: £725
If I go for a subsidised service then the costs would be:
2 Years: £340 - paid now
3 Years: £460 - paid now
Therefore the saving over three years is: £265. Has anyone else got a subsidised service? Are there any pitfalls?
If I sold my car within three years then are people willing to pay extra for a subsidised service? I think I would.

Depends on the age of the car, after three years i doubt I'd carry on main dealer service if I was planning on keeping the car a long time. I certainly wouldn't be paying over the odds like those prices. My civic was serviced and MoTd on Saturday for £160 by my local garage who have tons more experience than main dealer monkeys.0

So if you keep the car for three years, and pay for the three year plan, you're £265 up.
But what if you sell the car early? Is the plan transferable?
Or if the car's written off?
Or if you move or they lose their franchise or they close or they turn out to be incompetent? Is it any Honda dealer?
Remember - they're not doing this out of charity - they're offering you this because it's a tie-in to them, and because it increases their revenue.0 -
Those charges seem very high for Honda. I still take my car to Honda as they are similar price to the independent I normally use. The last service was under £200. I suppose it depends where you are & what the package includes.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Parents had a Golf on a free MOT for life deal. Took it back one year and they said the free MOT was no longer valid because they changed the name over the door. Same staff etc but a new name.
It may not be transferable and i wouldnt pay extra for it. They may not be local to that garage if you do sell it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
