Phone calls - scam

Why don't they offer the alternative of Opt in - rather than Opt out ?
When ALL of your calls are blocked - unless you accept them ?
This would allow us peace and quiet - with only those that have prior permission getting through ....

Unfortunately, such a system would be unworkable and the telephone system would become unusable.

You would have to create and maintain a list of everyone who might call and who you would want to hear from... and how could you possibly know who all of those people are in advance?

If any of your contacts changed their number, they would be blocked and would have to find some other way of letting you know their new number.

If I've got a few minutes to spare, I just keep saying 'speak up - I can't hear you'. By the time they cotton on to the fact that I'm winding them up, they're (hopefully!) too hoarse to bother anyone else for a bit. Otherwise, just say 'no' and hang up.

I don’t mean everyone / automatically - I mean from choice if you want it ...
