Hello guys! Hope you are well!!
Im new to this so sorry if anything is wrong!
Basically, I lived in Copper Quarter, Swansea and millennium parking ltd group would give my girlfriend fines even though shei was parked in my own parking space that I would pay for! I! My friends have also ignored them... Couple of days ago though my girlfriend received a letter asking her to pay GBP450 from them. What should i do? Its crazy to get a fine when u are parked in your own parking space!!!! !!! Its so annoying how they can scam people! Cause i can imagine some people being scared of them and paying their fines!!!

They are not fines.
Please edit your post to remove information about who did what. All we need to know about is, The Driver did this or didn't do that. It's OK to say who the parking space belongs to, just don't mention who was driving.
What does your lease say about parking? That will override anything a tin-pot parking company can say or do.
Please give us a timeline of events as well. The regulars are also going to want pictures of signs around the car park, so you have some home work to do.
Have you read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES yet? This explains the whole sorry process regarding this unregulated scam industry.
The Police, solicitors, and CAB know nowt about private parking issues so you are wasting your time talking to any of them.
The experts reside here, and one of the most experienced in the country wrote the NEWBIES thread.
The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.
So, deep breath, amend you post, then answer some questions, and do some reading.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Have a look at the Parking Pranksters site on this type of case. There is a transcript of a similar case (Pace v Mr N) which will explain the issues.
Key to it is your girlfriend's lease and what it says about parking.
Most of these claims are about getting people to pay up. The parking companies just mass produce them without any details or evidence to back it up. It's going to be hassle but stick with it, and get them to drop it. Or if you are sufficiently annoyed, counterclaimThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I read the first post as it was ALEX13's property and his girlfriend was parking in his parking space?
If so, he's got to find his lease out although it also seems he has moved out. Hope he's got the paperwork (if I'm correct).0 -
Hi Guys,
Thank you all for your replys- and sorry for my late reply I am new to this.
I have pictures of the court letter on my computer but I'm not sure how to upload them onto this threat can anyone give some suggestions?
I do have emails of the lease of the property i was renting for three years in which even though the lease is in my name my partner has lived there with me for the full three years.
Its just a complete p*** take to pay 405 pounds to them for parking in my parking space, its not even as if its on a public busy road where they could of mistaken me for a random person using the parking- the parking space is underground below the flat! not accessible for the public and nobody would even think to park there as its nothing around. Just like a multi story car park under ground for the people who live there.
We have to respond to the court within 4 days otherwise further action is going to be taken
i have told her to completely ignore them until now, thats letters off them asking for the money, then letters from glad stones, I was told my everyone in my block (who also received tickets many times) to ignore them as they are scams, and then a court letter comes through our door and she is very worried!
The letters from court are from Northampton county court business centre, the address of the person sending it is 'Gladstones solicitors ltd warrington' ... its given me a response pack, a form saying acknowledgement of service, just saying i owe them 320 pounds plus court fee's etc adding up to 405.92 and that i must answer in 14 days before further judgment is taken against me.
We ignored and made no contact which is what we where advised and now this?? Please can somebody help!
Thank you in advance0 -
C-M explained how to upload (redacted) images in post 4.
There is a guide to court linked from Post 1 of the NEWBIES from an experienced poster called Bargepole. This explains how to start the process which I believe you do by acknowledging the claim and stating that you will be defending this, but leave the defence box blank.
Do this tonight. That will then give you 28 days to crack on with your skeleton defence, then final defence points, I think. You need the court experts help on this, of which I am not one. But you must acknowledge this ASAP with the court. It is however winnable.I married my cousin. What is the date on the court claim?
Is the claim addressed to your partner?
The court claim must be responded to in your partner's name if it was addressed to her (even if you do the donkey work).0 -

It may be simpler to confirm it is a Claim form and not judgement for the claimant (people get the two confused)
And the date from the top right.
You must acknowledge within 14 days of that date (19 really) and send in a defence within 28 days (33 really). Saves you having to work out how to post. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
