DVLA court case for a car that is no longer yours

Hi

My husband has to appear in court next week - he's being taken to court by DVLA for no insurance on a vehicle that is no longer his

He has written to DVLA and included a not guilty statement already but they are still taking him to court.

The car was sold in March 2016 and the no insurance charge is June 2016

We have documents to prove this and a letter backing this up from the company that he sold the car to. The DVLA obviously didn't receive the paperwork even though it was sent off.

My husband is getting himself in a right state about it (understandably!)

Is there anything else we should be doing to prepare for this court case other than take all paperwork proving that he was not the registered owner at the time of the offence?

He was contacted previously by the road tax part of DVLA as they said the same but that was sorted out by sending proof of transfer of ownership (to a we buy any car type company) so we assumed that the insurance side would be sorted at the same time?

The we-buy-any-car type company can't tell us who now owns the car (due to data protection) They sold it at auction but they say they've supplied DVLA with details

Any advice please?

This is a parking forum, so maybe best post on the motoring forum, but in the meantime, check with the DVLA online to see if the vehicle is now insured and, if so, then demand from the DVLA when they received notification of change of ownership.

I always notify DVLA of change of ownership by online.
