Hello Everyone,

I have a few gadgets I wanted to insure and would like to know which gadget insurance companies the community would recommend.

I would prefer if the insurance company would replace my gadget for a new gadget or a gadget of similar age when I am to claim.

So far my research has led me to lean towards Debenhams gadget insurance but even they have very bad review on trustpilot.

Apologies for my ignorance if a similar thread has been previously created this year.

Thank You.

Kind Regards
BlueBear

P.S.
So now my question is which gadget insurance company is the least worst when making a claim ?

    What gadgets are they?

    How much are they worth?

How many incidents have you had in the last few years that have resulted in damage/loss to similar gadgets?

I ask this because I have never damaged or lost any gadget or have owned in a long time that would have been claimable on an insurance policy. So I choose not to take out this kind of Insurance and the money I have saved over the years is in my bank and not the insurance companies.

The MSE advice is not to bother (unless you are bad at losing things!)

The reason I'm insuring them is because I am starting Uni and don't want to worry about them being damaged or stolen. I obviously will take precautions that nothing happens to them and take good care but want to have some sort of breakdown cover just in case something does happen.
  • With the exception of breakdown, you may find your (or your parent's) home insurance covers your contents whilst at university.
  • I don't want to claim under home insurance.

I get the impression that gadget insurance companies are just awful but even if that is the case I still want to take out an insurance policy (something is better than nothing).

So you'd rather pay for something which by your own admission is "just awful" than potentially be covered already on a home contents policy?

Just bear in mind that even if you manage to claim on a gadget insurance plan it doesn't make you exempt from disclosing this on a contents policy as insurers ask about claims AND losses (typically whether claimed or not).

    Worth thinking about......

I just opened a Barclays account for their insurance packs, and I just got the gadget insurance one. Though you can only add gadgets to it that are less than two years old. I haven't had to claim yet and I've only had the policy for just short of a month so I can't comment on that, but it seems good
