Car Servicing
I recently took my car in for a service.
Prior to the appointment, I requested, and received a quote based on the mileage of the car for £270. When I collected the car the bill was £522.
They justified it by saying, that according to the service book, the next service was required, which required replacing the engine coolant, brake fluid, pollen filter, air filter, and fuel filter.
I have sent their bill to a few local independent specialist service centres in hopes of finding comparative prices for the same quality and level of work.
Do I have any rights?

You have been stung. They ought to have contacted you before proceeding with "extra" work. Was your quote in writing?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Services are carried out on a mileage and age basis.
The service of a car which has done 10,000 miles in a year will be cheaper than a car which has done 10,000 miles in two years.
Your service book will detail what is required for the age and mileage of your vehicle. Check this and you will know if you have had your leg lifted.0 -
I'd be fuming - it's out of order not to call you first. It may well be that other items were due - some filters etc are required on time rather than mileage - the service section of the handbook will tell you.
Take it up with the service manager, then dealer principal then the owner or customer service if it's a large dealer group.
How old is the car - most modern cars don't need a coolant change for many years, if ever.0
