e shop question

Looking to set up an e shop. I want to be able to take payments from credit etc on a personal website. Have looked at the lycos shop i am looking at something like the 14.99 ex vat shop. Does any one have any better ideas & or is the lycos system any good, thanks

  • Depends if you want your site to be co-branded or have a professional checkout reflecting your own branding - asaik Lyco shop is geared towards you selling their/partners gear on Kelkoo and the likes...but I stand to be corrected ;)

  • I want to have my own site that can take credit card payments world wide .
It seems that you can have your own site on lycos but now i'm not sure. Affiliated to lycos won't be a prob as long as i can sell my own product

  • What are you planning to sell?
  • Hi

You could use something like Roman Cart, and the build a straight forward Html website, and use Pay Pal standard to accept credit cards.

If you build the site yourself you could be up and running with a professional looking e-commerce site for in the region of £100.00 which would cover the cost Domain name, Hosting, and credit card faclity for 12 months.
  • I am having a look at roman cart. There will only be a one or two products available & the sales will be in us$ from abroad. I need it to be as cost effective as possibile in the beginning. Pay Pal looks to be the cheapest card facility.
