Reclaiming catalogue charges

Hi - a while ago we got into some debt & had to agree to payment plans for catalogues - we were charged late fees over quite a period of time and after negotiation they finally agreed to stop them - can I claim these back or not?

You can't claim anything back. There is no right to get back fees that were correctly applied and in line with the terms and conditions you agreed to.

You can however complain if you feel the fees were incorrectly applied, whether the company accepts it or not is another matter, it depends if you are in current hardship or talking years back?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
