Tourist Visa to US from Chinese Citizen with Permanent Residence in UK

Hi there,
My wife is a Chinese citizen. She hasn't applied for a British Passport yet. She has permanent residence.
I want to take her to the U.S. Now, if she was in China, applying for a tourist visa is straight-forward as she's in her origin country. People go on holiday all the time and sending off for a tourist visa is straight-forward.
However, if she's in the U.K., is the only way to apply for a tourist visa by making an appointment with the embassy?
Thanks.

Presuming that she is living on a visa valid for more than six months (I suspect that you mean she has Indefinite Leave to Remain), she should apply to one of the US diplomatic missions in the UK . She can do this by using an agent or by making an appointment directly.
Incidentally, many people find it easier to get an appointment at the consulate in Belfast than in London.0 -

She has indefinite leave to remain in the U.K. but I am not sure if that helps in any way. I am sure it helps at the appointment, but I was hoping that because it was simply a tourist visa, it would be just a straight sending off for the visa.0 -

Even if you are a uk citizen then unless you qualify under visa waiver applications for visa come with an interview.0 -

Her ILR means that she is eligible to apply here. A Chinese visitor in the UK would be told to apply for a US visa at a US embassy in China.0 -
Does this apply to your wife?
