Car insurance and moving house

This may prove helpful to someone.
My partner and I have each got insurance through LV for our cars, which are of similar value and we were living at the same property, then moving to the same property. Our standard insurance was in the £400-£450 range - a bit high but they always went up as we moved to 'more expensive' areas, in other words more claims were made in those places.
On returning to a perceived 'safe' area, my partner's policy was adjusted and she had the cost halved. Mine, on the other hand, stayed identical. Unhappy with this, I asked LV to do something about it (it wasn't up for renewal for nine months) and they checked... and could do nothing. As I had the certainty of identical conditions to my partner I knew it was possible to get a better deal so put in my details to the LV site and lo and behold - a quote of half the price of my current policy!
The message is, if you move and end up with no reduction in price for a car policy, check it out. I asked them to cancel my policy and start a new one - because it was an absurd situation and I stayed with them, they've not (at least as yet) charged me the cancellation fee - and I'm a couple of hundred pounds better off.
Hope this inspires others to check in the same situation!
