Who’d you trust: Politicians, the papers or banks? Poll Discussion

Gosh, i think the old adage 'stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea' would apply here.
What most of the posts seem to reflect is a complete distrust in all the organisations we rely on for information and support. Whats worse is that although we dont trust them, we put up with them.
I've taken particular issue with the papers recently who seem hell bent on creating distrust within our own communities for lord only knows what reason. Printing outright lies in the cases I know more about or sensationalising a story that really isnt a story (Northern Rock most recently) I can only assume its to create panic and sell more papers.
What a world we live in, i sometimes wonder whether it wouldnt be better without people in it!!Won 2007: SatNav £150 Organic Facial Creams £48 Luxury Hotel Break £320, Rimmel Mascara £8, Champneys Voucher £300If a man speaks in the middle of a forest, and there is no woman to hear him...is he still wrong?0 -
CopperPlate wrote: »Have to say that I trust, generally, banks more than newspapers or politicians. The, and I'll stop short of calling them lies, that they tell sometimes is shocking. Lies that damage whole swathes of society, or completely tarnish or destroy reputations. Banks are certainly not as pure as the driven snow, but at least there is some recourse against a bank that is potentially win-able for the man on the street. Try taking on a newspaper in court or a politician who can't be sued (sometimes) as they claim Crown Immunity.
Copperplate has it spot on, spare a thought for the next Labour Parliamentary candidate in Shrewsbury, postal worker Jon Tandy. The sitting Tory MP Daniel Kawczynski accused Jon of postal vote fraud in a Commons speech, but wouldn't repeat it in public. A Police investigation proved the statement was totally false, yet Kawczynski will not apologise.
Meanwhile the Conservative leaning local paper The Shropshire Star is censoring the news, it prints endless articles about Kawczynski but will not print any of Tandy's letters.
Tandy was on the platform as co-organiser of a recent public meeting opposing plans for an incinerator in North Shrewsbury. Kawczynski was just in the audience and only asked one short question. The Shropshire Star report prominently referred to Kawczynski's attendance, but did not mention Tandy was even there.
So with actual evidence like that of actual libel and actual politically distorted news coverage, the banks have to be the lesser of these 3 evils!0 -
Im not voting for any of them!
If I had to vote it would be Papers, just one The Telegraph. But as one is not a wide picture unable to vote on this issue.0 -
I voted for the banks, as in THIS instance I trust what they say.... I am lucky that I am not with Northern Rock, and my sympathies for those that are and are having a hard time, but it would be against EVERYONES best interests if they lied then folded.
But as a rule, I don't trust any of them, they all pretty much tell us what we want to hear to lull us into a false sense of security! Pessimistic? Nah, not me 'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0 -
I haven't voted because I don't trust any of them, politicians being the worst in my opinion, the biggest liars of the lot.0

I've actually voted for the banks. But I haven't really voted for the one I trust most. More the one I distrust least.
All of them "bend the truth" but I think you have a better chance of seeing through the bank's "version of the truth" than the others. If it’s not important to you, don’t consume it0 -
I didn't vote. I don't feel that there is any distinction whatsoever between any of them when it is an issue of trust. All of them lie and will rip off the public to suit their own agendas and only care about the public if and when it suits that agenda.**********************************************************************

Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
The odd one out of the trio is the Politicians. They are never accountable for their deeds. Honourable politicians used to resign for their wrong doings. But not under Nu Labour. I'd rather trust a rattler snake than a politician.0
