Probably depends where you are. I am paying £40 plus Vat per visit for two visits a month to a property that I am looking after for someone.

Any experienced gardener will clear it and organise it in such a way that ongoing maintenance is simplified, so it may be that you could compromise and get a couple of early season and late season tidy-ups done by the gardeners and do the rest yourself.

Lol! Good suggestion. Problem is he will prefer the neighbours garden, or mooching crisps off the kids coming home from school (and a whole host of Paddy McGinty scenarios)!

Investing in power tools helps if you plan to DIY.
power trimmer, loppers and if any big stuff a chainsaw(or other suitable tool that can do larger diameters)
A decent size mover if you have grass to cut.
A good shredder to deal with anything you cut back
compost heap to save carting away waste.
log pile for anything too big for the shredder

a decent garden truck/barrow for moving stuff around.
