patches on painted wall

HI I have painted over dot and dab marks on my plastered walls with Polycell stain stop and allowed to dry
I have now emulsioned the wall and the bits I have treated with stain stop are showing through the new paint as a lighter colour.

What can I do?
Thanks

  • Paint another coat. Unfortunately it's quite common for these anti damp paints to grin through emulsion due to differences in sheen and texture.

If I have patches of a wall that are a markedly different colour (tester pots/stain cover/etcetera), I will normally give those areas a few extra coats - before I paint the whole wall.

Don't do it afterwards, as any texture difference will be more obvious.

Try painting the affected area with white gloss undercoat, leave overnight then paint with your required colour.
