Solicitor etiquette

It may be very simple. If you sent the stuff to the solicitor's personal email then you get the out of office autoreply - this shouldn't happen if you send it to the general office email address, making it clear who is the main person deaing with the matter. The staff should then know who is dealing with his cases in his absence and forward it on to him.
However, I do agree that there often simply isn't time to send simple thank you emails for everything.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
The way I see it, if they spent their time replying to every little thing with the extra workload/cases, nothing would get done.0

Guess where your file will go if you start hounding people needlessly....
That's right, the bottom of the pile.0 -
We had an excellent solicitor for our purchase but even he took almost a week to respond to one for our emails when he was covering for a colleague.
Once he told us why he hadn't replied sooner, we stopped chasing him.
He turned out to be the most proactive of all the solicitors in the chain and it was only because he was constantly chasing the other solicitors that we exchanged as early as we did.
Of course you could have a useless solicitor, but hopefully you vetted him before you instructed him so you should know what he is like.0
