Anti Slip Covering OUtdoor Steps

We have 3 very sharp edges concrete steps that I fell down twics in black ice a few years ago. I want to get some kind of grip to reduce the chance of it happening again but not sure if there's anything foolproof out there. They are concrete steps...I'm thinking of something like the following. I'm not keep on the mats as a freind has them and they seem more of a hazard than a help.

You could use masonry paint with some grit sprinkled into it before it dries. But the decking strips should work OK.0
