Royal London and making an claim on joint insurance

Options
Hi there, my partner and I had an joint life insurance policy. This was with royal London. He was killed instantly in an collision with another car so we are still waiting to hear exact cause of death but have been issued with interim death certificates. We have sent everything off and it is with an accessor now. From what I've read online is that royal London pay out most claims and do accept interim certificates they say they may go online to check that the accident was in the paper and may just confirm some info with the coroner. It could take up to six months to get the full dc. I'm struggling now with money etc as we weren't married. Many thanks for any advice x

Have you tried contacting them to see if things can be hurried along, but sometimes these things may take time.

    Sorry for your loss.

You're right, Royal London do pay out on most claims (about 98% of life insurance claims) and the only ones they don't pay out on are the ones were applicants were deceitful on the application.

Unfortunately, RL will normally have to write to your partners GP for their medical history to ensure that the application was completed honestly and this can take time. I would just speak to RL and find out what they are waiting for and then when necessary chase the GP to try and ensure they provide the necessary information as quickly as possible.
