I've seen a car on Gumtree - Warranty Question
Hi. I've seen a car on Gumtree (it's not a Private seller). Says 'Trade' In their description is this:-
"ALL OF OUR CARS COMES WITH NEW SERVICE AND 6 MONTHS FREE WARRANTY INCLUDING RECOVERY AND BREAKDOWN COVER WHEN THE SCREEN PRICE IS PAID.
THIS CAR COMES WITH 6 MONTHS WARRANTY THROUGH WARRANTY WISE"
My 1st question is, what if I don't pay the 'screen price' - perhaps I can haggle £100 off or they take my existing car in as part exchange.
Should I still be legally entitled to a minimum 'Free Warranty' period?
The ad also states:-
We also include the following benefits on all of our plans as standard.
"Unlimited European Cover
Breakdown and Recovery
Consequential Damage Cover
Hotel & Travel Expenses Included
Repairs at any VAT Registered Garage
Cover for Failure Due to Wear & Tear
No Mileage Restrictions
Unlimited Amount of Claims up to Value of the Car"
I assume same applies? Don't pay asking price, don't get any of the above.
Can they do this?
Thanks

If you don't pay the screen price then it looks like you don't get the warranty.
The warranty is in addition to your consumer rights.0 -
Talk to them and ask the question - Maybe you can do a deal with them.0
-
I wouldn't be at all optimistic that the 'warranty' is worth the paper it's written on.0
-
Ask for the full terms and conditions for the warranty and then see if you can do the deal. Note I say full terms and conditions, not just a summary. Chances are Konark is correct most warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on because of the things they exclude.0
