Blatant lying on TV ad.

I'm not convinced your example is legitimately 'puffery' - you mention very specific (and testable) figures whereas if you claimed 'from here to there in a heartbeat' you would stand a better chance of not being sued. Ultimately, though, only the courts would decide
It depends on whether it is an off-road or an urban kind of car, because "here to there" would obviously differ!
But suffice to say that if we take 60 bpm as a good heart rate then I don't think you could realistically get "from here to there" in 1 second
So maybe you shouldn't say things like that, because it is "blatant lying"Feel a bit silly for having to point that out, but I'm hopeful that OP gets the hint from that

The more cringeworthy the less likely I am to buy it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

"Cuts cleaning time in half" but what's the original time anyway?0

As for cleaning products - I have yet to find one that leaves such a perfectly precise dividing line between dirty and shiny in one swipe. Mind you - I don't have those incredibly filthy and thoughtless people in my house like in most adverts. Must be related to those houses where you apparently need an automatic air freshener going off in every room every ten minutes because the family honk...
I'm thinking about getting one of those, or a diffuser or something that doesn't need burning. Not because I smell or my flat is dirty, but because the folks downstairs smokeso they do have their uses!

My favourite is the picture of food on a plate with "Serving suggestion" printed in the corner.
Just to be clear, we're not suggesting that the food actually looks like the picture on the packet, we're just pointing out that you can use a plate if you were wondering how to put it on the table without making a mess of the tablecloth.I need to think of something new here...0 -
"I cough, I sneeze, I laugh and my weak bladder's gone!"
Now it hasn't. It's still there but your panties are full of urine!
Actually it's "sensitive" bladder as they daren't use any word implying anything negative about the buyer. Why can't they just say "If you're incontinent this will help mask the effect until you can clean yourself up"?0 -
I think you're all just mean.
Next you'll be telling me elves don't make the goods on notonthehighstreet0 -

The worrying thing is I've been making women laugh all my life. I've always wondered why some of them had a strained expression afterwards.0 -
Cornucopia wrote: »My "favourites" fall into two groups:-
- The absolutely inane, too frequently repeated stupid ones. Cosmetics fill most of that category. I also despair at Nationwide's venture into earnest young poetry. Look - snowflakes.
- The (admittedly few) weasel-words ones. Most obvious example, the Microsoft one with the Stage Set designer: "I could never do that with my Mac". "You" could never do it? What about everyone else?
The next thing to be regulated I think should be the "per month" car ads. There is a vast difference between "£169 per month (£1000 down)" and "£169 per month (£5678 down)". I think the answer to that one should be that advertisers cannot use an unqualified headline "per month" claim unless the deposit (less discount) is no more than X times the monthly payment (perhaps 9 times).
I know of a used car garage that advertises 0% finance on every car. I went there to be told that it is not on available on the whole price of any of the cars, just part of the price (thus making none of it really 0%). They may me feel ridiculous for thinking it might be on the whole price. At the time I wondered if what they were doing was legal (also, they wouldn't give me the figures to take away and consider which I thought was weird!)0
