Fire HD 10 low resolution issue

Options
Hi,
Please be kind ... this is my first post!
On 29 Oct 2016 I bought a Fire HD 10 from Argos (in store.) Paid by credit card.
I already have a Kindle Fire HD 7, bought in 2013.
The screen resolution on the HD 10 is much worse than the HD 7 (which is fine)
Spoke to Argos today and they won't take it back because they have a policy of not accepting tablets and lap tops once they have been used.
Argos suggested I spoke to Amazon. I have spoken to an Amazon rep. this afternoon and he said he would pass the problem of the low resolution screen to their engineers who will be in touch.
Please can anyone help with suggestions of how I can get a refund for the HD 10 as I'm unable to read words on the screen without eye strain. The new product is not as good as the 3 year old product from the same manufacturer.
Thank you!

Put it back to factory settings and try in another Argos store. You could be lucky that way.

Have you checked to see if users generally feel that resolution is poor? Perhaps you just have a dodgy one that needs to be fixed (in which case go back to Argos).

It has exactly the same screen resolution as your old model, the only difference being it'll have a lower pixel density due to it being a larger screen. The time to consider this was before you purchased the tablet, not after.

Neither Argos or Amazon are obliged to do anything unless the tablet is faulty I'm afraid.

The resolution/DPI is on the low side, especially for a large screen. And this is mentioned elsewhere as one of the tablet's negatives.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fire-Tablet-Display-Wi-Fi-Black/dp/B00Y3TM6CO: 1280 x 800 (149ppi).

According to Wikipedia the Fire HD 7 offers the same resolution of 1280 × 800 (216ppi).

I've got several different kindle fires/ e-readers and they have all come in packaging which has a rip off strip to open the box. No way it can be made to look as if it hasn't been opened.

Take it to another argos, say its faulty, eg intermittently turning off and ask for a refund. Its within 7 days and argos CS aren't too bad.

At worst they'll swap it for a brand new sealed one which you can flog on ebay etc.

    And that would be fraud.
